1) Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon and butter until themixture is crumbly. Spread thickly on cake before baking.
2) Melt the butter, add sugar, flour and cinnamon.Spread on cake and top with chopped nuts, candied cherries or a few shredded almonds and bake.
3) Make this delicious topping for any plain cake: Beat egg whites (left from cake) until they hold a peak.Gradually beat in brown sugar. Spread on unbaked batter and sprinkle thickly with chopped pecans. Bake.
