Potatoes And Peas Patties Or Aloo Mattar Kay Kabab


  • 500 gm potatoes
  • 100 gm peas
  • 1/2 tbsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tbsp crushed red chillies
  • 1/2 tbsp red chillies powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwaiin )
  • Pinch of nigella seeds (kalonji)
  • 2 tbsp dried pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tbsp crushed coriander
  • Fresh coriander leaves,chopped
  • 1-2 green chillies,finely chopped
  • 1 egg,lightly beaten
  • Corn flour
  • Oil, for shallow-frying

  • Method:

  • Boil,peel and mash potatoes.
  • Boil peas separately.
  • Add all ingredients in potatoes and peas except egg,cornflour and oil.Mix well.
  • Take a small amount of mixture on the hand and flatten to a disc shape.
  • Heat oil for shallow-frying.
  • Coat patties lightly with cornflour and dip in beaten egg.
  • Place in oil and fry till both sides are golden brown.
  • Serve hot as a side dish or as a snack.
