Australian Style Hamburger
Ingredients:
750g lean beef mince (like topside)1 large brown onion, grated3 garlic cloves, crushed1 tbspn Worcestershire sauce2 tspn Tabasco sauce (optional)1/4 cup chopped fresh continental parsley1 cup dry breadcrumbs1 eggSalt & ground black pepper, to taste6 hamburger buns, halved and lightly toasted on inner half6 slices good quality cheddar cheese3 medium, ripe tomatoes, sliced6 slices pickled beetroot6 slices pineapple6 Iceberg lettuce leaves, shreddedtomato sauce for serving
Method:
Place the beef mince, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, parsley, breadcrumbs and egg in large bowl. Season with salt and pepper.Mix with your hands until evenly combined.Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about: 10cm in diameter and 1.5cm thick.Place the patties onto a tray lined with- greaseproof paper. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to rest.Cook patties on hot BBQ for approx 4 minutes each side.To serve, top the bottom halves of the toasted hamburger buns with the patties and then the cheese slices.Place bottom bun halves under hot grill until the cheese is just melted.Top each with the sliced tomato, beetroot, pineapple and lettuce.Add sauce to taste and cover with bun top.
